Why do you need compression socks?
Many patients are surprised when we suggest that they can benefit from compression socks. We carry a variety of medical grade compression socks to meet your individual needs. Compression socks work by aiding the veins in the lower leg to push blood back to the heart. This can improve health and reduce soreness in the legs. Compression socks come in a variety of styles from athletic to business to fashion. During your session, your pedorthist will measure you to ensure the perfect fit in either a custom or off the shelf sock.

Medical Requirements
Heavy and tired legs and swollen ankles are signs of chronic venous insufficiency, which is a serious disease with real consequences. Around 15 percent of the population currently suffers from venous diseases. If you find that your shoes are getting tight during the day, this could be a visible sign of venous weakness. Wearing compression stocking is key with the treatment of venous disorders. This treatment is prescribed by a physician to treat phlebitis, thrombosis, and aftercare following surgery, sclerotherapy, and any other forms of varicose vein treatment, and also to relieve all conditions of chronic venous disease (heavy legs, varicose veins, edemas, leg ulcers). It can also be prescribed to prevent venous issues during pregnancy and long-distance travel. If no contraindications like severe arterial insufficiency are present, compression stockings of lower pressure can be purchased without a prescription.
